Meditation of the passive and of the active, everyone understands the passive way of meditating, simply stop doing and start being. It is withdrawing from all the activities that you are doing and come to a standstill and even when you come to stand still your mind ticks so allow your mind also to settle and take a while, you have to enjoy the stillness to begin with. You have to take interest in being with yourself in being introduced to yourself because you have not known yourself, the best company you can keep forever. The language of silence of your being creates deep meaning and becomes very meaningful. A lot many realization come to us when we are passively meditating in silence, because as our senses settle down and not get stimulated like in many other ways as we are in our walk of life. As our senses began to settle and calm, the senses begin to integrate and become one. This oneness of senses then becomes a powerhouse of perception, and it begins to introspect-retrospect and brings about solutions, realization, insights, foresights and intuitions. This also takes you to a space of pure nothingness, eventually where it just you and you only prevails and nobody else even not your own body , then you feel weightless, timeless and space less. The relatibility to the body and mind dissolves and the reference to the invisible spirit to the self prevails and truly the experience regels.
The other type of meditation is the active. Being in meditative frame of mind while you are doing day to day activity so that is the meditation of pure awareness which in true self is being mindful of everything that you do. Mindful of everything that you do and everything you get involved into be so total into it that skills, talent, grace, comes to it very naturally and the doing also becomes very beautiful because the doing happens in the state of mind. The ways to this would be – you are sitting in the train, and simply watching everybody around you watching the scenery pass by and being attentive to the passing moment only – which is seamless. Let say you are cooking, studying, typing, reading, watching a movie you could be doing it all in meditative frame of mind, which means once again completely involved, completely dissolved adding a lot of value to everything that is happening and adding beauty and grace to the otherwise meaningless task or jobs or routine.
